My First Blog Entry

Hey everyone. I have been checking out blogs from many chaplains and chaplain candidates that are at CH BOLC right now and so I thought I would start my own as well.
Just a little about me... I have been married for almost 3 yrs (Sept 4th) to my wife Dawn. I am about to start my 3rd year of graduate studies at Cincinnati Christian University for my MDiv in Family Studies and counseling. This Fall I will be taking the first part of OBC in Sept. when I complete CMIT at FT Jackson, SC. I came to the Army as a ROTC cadet from Kent State University class of '05. During college I got the opportunity to go to Airborne School at FT Benning, GA which was awesome. I received an educational delay from Active Duty to go to Grad school and enter the Chaplain Candidate Program. Since that time I have been working as a full time Teen Youth Minister in Hamilton, OH so that i can finish up my ministry requirements for the Chaplaincy. I really miss the Army life and the opportunity to be a PL (platoon leader) that i would have had in the Engineer Corps if I would have went straight in after college. I know that God will use me to further his purpose and kingdom in the Army Chaplain Corps though, and that he definitely brought me here because there is no way I wanted to go to school for almost 4 more years.

I'm excited though because I finally get to do some more training this fall and get back into the Army life even if it is for only a month. I leave Sept 15th for CIMT and will be back around Oct 13th. I am pumped because after reading CH Olson, and a few other blogs I am confident I will pass CIMT with flying colors since I have done all those things and more as a cadet. I have been busting my butt to get back in shape since i let myself go a little over the last couple years. I have lost 30lbs since January and got my PT score back up to 260. I hope by Sept to be above 270 and have lost another 10 lbs.

Good luck to all those at OBC now and those who have finished. see ya soon.
